Quite a few home inspectors are now using a laptop computer when they conduct an inspection. On the surface this should be a good thing. Unfortunately, using a laptop computer or PDA that they're not completely comfortable with causes them to focus more on the computer and less on the inspection.
Jeff designed and maintains his own software reporting system. He is completely at home with computers because of his previous software industry experience.

Jeff doesn't prepare the inspection report on-site, choosing instead to deliver the report via email, U.S mail or in person. He respects your time and doesn't want you to have to stand around waiting for him to type out the report.
More importantly, homes are complex systems with highly interactive components. Even though Jeff tries to keep current with building codes and new materials, many times its better to research a condition or a particular mechanical device off site.
He also is then able to check the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website for recall information that could impact the kitchen appliances, the furnace, air conditioning and hot water heater. |
